Test Description:Warfarin is an anticoagulant medication commonly used to treat thrombosis. It may be prescribed for conditions such as stroke, deep vein thrombosis, heart valve replacement, and atrial fibrillation. Individuals who are sensitive to the medication are at risk of serious bleeding side effects and should receive a lower dose. The genetic variants VKORC1 and CYP2C9 have been shown to have a high correlation with warfarin use and the required dosage.
